Pookode Lake in Wayanad
Obviously the highlight of Pookode is the boating in the lake. There is a children's park and also a mini aquarium around the corner.
Also there is a short elephant fun ride opportunity.
Avoid visiting Pookode Lake on weekends and holidays, as the you would be spending time scrabbling for parking space, queuing up to buy tickets , only to spent time inside with a noisy mob!
Rather visit the lake at the earliest opportunity (9am-5pm) . Also take the effort to make a stroll around the lake (over a km). It's an off the beaten track wild, serene and refreshing. Those staying in one of those Vythiri resorts, Pookode Lake could be a pleasant short walk. Recommended!
Also you'll find an eco-shops selling local handicrafts and spices close to the ticket counter.
